Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to set up a PhotoFront account?
If you pay by credit card, your account can be set up within the same day you sign up! All that's necessary is the initial startup cost, and once that's received, your account will be activated and you can download the client software immediately.

Can I have my web site be www.photos.mydomain.com?
Yes! When you register for an account, you can select the full site name yourself. You will be responsible for the DNS modifications, if necessary. However, this is a generally available feature that is exclusive to PhotoFront.

How do I get help for the PhotoFront Java client software?

Who prints the photos when I get an order?
You have the choice of printing the photos yourself, or having the photos printed by our local high-quality photo lab. Shipping can also be taken care of by our local photo lab. The PhotoFront control panel makes it simple to print out your own photos, or print out a "lab printout" for submission to another photo lab of your choice. You have complete control over the professionalism and quality of your prints.

I don't have a merchant account. Can you process credit cards for me?
Yes, we are capable of billing your clients for you. However, there is a standard 3% processing fee, but we do send payments out every two weeks. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

Will my site have that annoying camera (as shown in the demo) as the default watermark?
No, you can customize the watermark to be any image or logo that you choose. We will even make a watermark from your logo for free.
PhotoFront client-specific Questions

What's the difference between a pricing group and an event group?
A pricing group defines how much you charge for the photos in an event. An event group simply categorizes your event into a specific area of work. Pricing groups have nothing to do with your event groups, and event groups don't necessarily have anything to do with pricing groups. However, most photographers associate them by creating sets of groups (one of each type) that each have the same name. On a technical level, however, they are not related.
